Whether via insurance or personal payment pre and post surveying checks ensure that quotations for repair can be made with much more accuracy and completed work can be checked to ensure repairs have been finished to the correct standard. Drones can quickly examine hard to reach areas and provide detailed images of damage requiring repair.

In the case shown here the homeowner’s front bedroom had a damp patch on the ceiling after heavy rainfall. Due to a very narrow side way entrance ladders could not be used to provide a close inspection. The roofing contractor that was called suspected that the lead flashing at the base of the chimney stack was the issue and a ‘free’ estimate was given to repair it. 

Not satisfied, the homeowner called on HDS to review the whole roof and to closely inspect the chimney stack. Within just a few minutes of flight time it was discovered that the chimney crown (rendering) was badly damaged. This could not be seen from ground level and was approximately 3 meters above the lead flashing the contractor had given a quotation for. Without this knowledge the roofing contractor would have replaced the lead flashing and not actually resolved the leak leading to additional expense for the homeowner in both time and money.
